[Today’s run: nothing – rest day]
We have a little thicket of wild plum trees on our property. It is approximately 20′ x 40′. I have been working on it slowly, trying to cut back the creeping vines that are strangling the plum trees. I am making slow progress every summer.
In late spring we get a few wild plums. This is our third year. The first year was our best so far. Last year we had a cold rain during the blossom time and hardly got any plums at all. This year we again had rough weather but more plums survived. We ended up with 5 full jars (8 oz) of plum jelly and half a jar.
I am not good at gardening, don’t even do much to the lawn. But I am ok with walking across the yard and picking plums off the tree. It took about a week for these all to ripen up. I would pick a few, then come back in a couple days and pick a few more. Yesterday I got the last round and we cooked them and mashed them. And today we made the jelly.
