Robinson Road

[Today’s run: rest day    Friday: 4 miles  Saturday:15 miles]

I usually try to do a blog post on the days that I run.  Somehow I missed both Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday we were up bright and early and over in Starkville to run with the Boardtown Runners.  We usually start off early in order to A) get done at a reasonable time and B) have a chance to say ‘Hi’ to the fast guys as they go past us (otherwise we would never see them).

We ran the Paul Williams Route, named after a runner in the group who used to live in the Oktoc, MS area just southeast of Starkville.

Part of the route takes us on another section of Robinson Road, which I have mentioned before.  Robinson Road is an old route which went from Columbus, MS to Jackson, MS in the early days.  Now it is just bits and pieces.  Near our home it also has a bit named Schaffer’s Chapel Road.

And it just so happens that Rufus Ward’s column in today’s Sunday Commercial-Dispatch out of Columbus has a mention of Robinson Road also.

In Oktoc there is sign about Robinson Road, established 1821.
