Plastic box changed out for a metal box

[Today’s run: 3.15]

I know this is pretty exciting stuff!

My run of wires from the house out to the base of the tower is held up by 12′ 4×4 posts.  At either end I have a junction box with an old mil-surplus terminal block where my wires connect up.

I think all of these are wires going to the antenna rotator.  Since power goes from the house all the way out and up to the top of the tower, I’m using some surplus 12-guage house wire for those leads.  I transition to smaller stuff at each end.  Larger wire means a bit less loss of voltage over the distance run.

Anyway, I had been using a plastic food storage container as a more-or-less bugproof box.  The one on the far end disintegrated a while ago and I replaced it with a cheap metal fusebox thing from Lowes.

I had bought two of them at the time but just finally got around to replacing the one at the house end.  The food containers get real brittle and start breaking into shards.  But this one was still holding up until I started taking it down off the pole yesterday afternoon.  So now I have metal boxes at each end.

I knew you would be excited about that.
