SX-11 pt 3

[Today’s run: rest day]

I’ve started in on replacing the capacitors.

The little light-yellow ones are the new ones.  also, two black ones are new.

One of the black ones is mounted behind he “BFO Injection” control.  I don’t know if the original was an electrolytic or not.  It doesn’t seem to show up on the parts list in the manual I have.  I replaced it with a similar value electrolytic.  I may have to get a non-polarized 16 uF cap to go in there.  Fortunately, I don’t think that is a critical system for getting the receiver to work.

… later…

After writing that I looked at the schematic once more.  Surely they would not have left a 16 uF out of the schematic.  Lo and behold, it looks like that guy may be one of the main power supply caps.  Why would they mount it so far away from the other power supply components?   If I am right then the electrolytic should do the job just fine.
