[Today’s run: 2.5 miles with the dog]
An old friend gave me this radio quite some time ago. He thought it looked cool. But it doesn’t work.
So I’m finally ready to dive in and see what we can do. First I found the schematic diagram and manual online. I don’t know if it is exactly like this radio, but it is close.
I have cleaned it up in a general way. I am ordering new capacitors to replace all electrolytics and paper/wax caps. I also have installed a modern electrical cord which will give some safety grounding. I installed a fuse holder too. We tested the tubes awhile ago and they seemed to be ok.
When the capacitors come we will go through and replace all of those. Then I can power it up without the tubes in it and do some checking of voltages in the tube sockets, just to see if things are generally in range.
