Field of fluffs

[Today’s run: 2 miles with the dog]

Today’s picture is a section of our yard.

I have been very happy that this dog is not a digger.  He did a little bit of that but kind of outgrew it, or something.  He likes to chew things.  And the wife buys him stuffed animals and such to chew up.

I know very well that those people at the garage sales are thinking, “Such a nice older couple.  I’ll bet they are buying that stuffed bunny/bear/whatever  to give to their grandchild.”  Hah!  How swiftly their velveteen doom does fall.  After a good hour of fun we pick up the remains in the living room and throw it away.

Sometime later, these fluffy things grow in the grass in our yard.  Some are little hunks of blue or green plastic.  Some are pillow stuffing.  One looks like an ear.

I should also say: the dog does not take his chew-toys out into the yard.  So these things must have alternative transport.

Hmm.

I don’t know what happens to the rest of the dog’s business.  It seems to melt away in the rain (for which I am grateful), as opposed to our experience in Colorado where things became petrified.
