The training, except for the little taper runs, is done.
What a strange period this has been, training for Chicago. Very strange, indeed. But, what could have been done, is now complete. Time now for a little bit of resting and waiting.
One week from today, I will be traveling to Chicago.
Thursday, Paxton, Castro and Kali will go to stay at Reggie’s House while we are gone. Reggie has a reputable boarding place for animals in our area. Pet owners love him and so do the animals. Quality place, there.
So, aside from a few minor errands, I’m ready.
The only variable left that is totally out of my control is the weather. I have had bad dreams about the race, you already know this. But I have been very concerned about the weather.
I have decided not to carry anything with me during the race.
When I did the Ultra in July, we were required to carry a water bottle. I ended up training all Summer carrying that water bottle. Lately, I have had to NOT carry the water bottle. I needed to get used to running “Naked.” as it were.
It felt very strange at first, but now, I rather like it! I’m not having to compensate for the additional weight of my 22 oz water bottle. I (sometimes) feel like I’m floating from not having to carry that extra weight.
A person could get used to this!
Back to the weather, though.
I have been checking the long range weather forecast for about a month now. I know…I’m pathetic. Finally, I have one that is still long range but hopefully, kind of accurate?
Fingers crossed!
