Race Nightmares

They started in earnest last night.  I had been on the verge of a few, but last night, I had a humdinger!

Race nightmares.

Holy Cow!

If the race goes anything like last night’s dream, I may have to hang up my running shoes.  That was dreadful!

I dreamed that the race start was actually inside my hotel.  That the hotel was in reality my dorm from college.  That’s actually pretty awful (I graduated from college in 1984 so I have no idea where that came from!).

The race began in the hallway.  We were required to run through each and every room in the dorm/hotel.  The rooms had adjoining doors so you had to run in a zig-zag pattern down the hallway.  The hallway was crammed with 45,000 runners.  There were people in the hallway who were not runners.  They wanted me to take things to their friends at the other end of the hall.

Weird.

All of a sudden, I wasn’t wearing the race shirt I had packed.  I was wearing a short sleeved cotton shirt. It was scratchy and I was chaffing.  I didn’t like the shirt but couldn’t take it off because of my bib pinned to it.  Had not choice but to keep zig-zagging down the hall.

That’s when I realized that I had forgotten to use the porta-potties before the race began.  I had to go and there wasn’t a porta-potty in sight.

Thank goodness I woke up and it was 6:00.  Time to get up (and use the bathroom.  HA! ).

What a terrible dream!

Race day HAS to be better than that.  Right!?!

Chicago Marathon.  9 Days!
