If At First You Don’t Succeed…

Try, try again.

About a year ago, I signed up for my very first Ultra.  It was the Mississippi 50 Trail Run.  This is a 50K/50Mile event in Laurel, Mississippi.   http://www.ms50.com/

If you have been follow my blog for a year, then you will recall how I ended up with a Femoral Stress Fracture and had to sit out on that event.  As it would turn out, I was not able to fulfill my dream of being an Ultra Marathoner until this past July when I ran the Big Butts 50K/100K (I ran the 50K) in Clinton, Mississippi.

I spent most of January and February of this year on crutches.  Major bummer, that was.

I knew that the registration for the MS50 was coming up but wasn’t sure as to exactly when.

This morning, on my Yahoo mail AND my Google mail, I received an email from the MS50 people saying, “Hey!  Want go try again?”  You betcha I did!  So, I immediately pulled up the registration and signed up for the second time for their event.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for a successful training season.  A couple of weeks ago, I signed up for the Mississippi River Marathon http://www.msrivermarathon.com/.  My reason for doing this (I was planning ahead, you see) was to use that marathon for a long training run for this Ultra.

So, this is what I have pending right now.  The Chicago Marathon in 11 days.  A Half Marathon on Thanksgiving Day.   The Steam Whistle 12K on New Year’s Day. The Mississippi River marathon in Valentine’s Day and the MS50 Ultra the beginning of March.

Tentatively, I also have a race in Austin, Texas, I have been invited to, but this is still up in the air as to if I will do that one or not.  I may be “raced out” by then and in need of a little break.

Then, there is the matter of a fall marathon…..
