MFH (My Favorite Husband) has been out of town for the first part of this week. He got home late yesterday. It is great to have him back home! I miss him when he’s gone.
Then MFH is home, during the night, the cats, Kali and Castro, will come to him and wake him up. They are either wanting something to eat or wanting to go outdoors. Sometimes both!
They never, ever wake me up. Always MFH.
Fine by me!
This time, while he was gone, during the night each cat came to me to be let out or whatever. I ignored them. I waved them off, rolled back over and went back to sleep.
Castro, especially, was not pleased that I was ignoring him. He went to the wall and the door of my bedroom. He stretched up as high as he could reach, opened his claws and then ran them down the wall and the door.
SCREEEEEEECCCCHHHH!!!!!
I threw a pillow at him.
Kali had been walking all over me by this time. She was easier to wave off. If I roll over, she is duty bound to knead the fuzzy blanket I have over me and make a cozy place to lay down. She HAS to have a cozy spot on the fuzzy blanket. So, all I had to do with Kali was to roll over.
Castro? I was starting to run out of pillows on the bed.
FINALLY, Paxton had enough. He stood up, came over to my side of the bed and shook. His collar made a loud jingly sound. That has always been his cue that he needs outdoors.
Now, when Paxton needs outdoors during the middle of the night, you let him out! If you don’t, you have a mess to clean up by the back door in the morning.
*Sigh*
I got up to put the dog out.
Paxton did not need out! He had just jingled his collar to make me get out of bed and take care of the cats!
That sneaky dog!!!
I walked to the back door and opened it just a little bit. That is Paxton’s cue to hightail it to the door or lose his golden opportunity to go out during the night. That dog just laid down in the living room on his pink puppy.
While I was holding the back door open just that little bit, Zip! Zip! Two cats flew through the door like a blur.
As soon as Paxton saw that the cats were happily outdoors, he got up off of his pink puppy and contentedly walked back to my bedroom to continue sleeping on his cushions by my side of the bed.
Well, how about that! Outsmarted by my own dog.
