It’s been four day’s since Saturday’s race. During those four days, I have been recovering from being sick and from running. Yesterday, I did my first post race run.
I managed 4.5 miles yesterday morning. That was, I think, the most difficult 4.5 miles I have ever run in my life. Holy Cow~~~that was painful!!!
The first run after a challenging race always hurts like the dickens. There’s no way around it. It just flat out hurts. I think maybe that’s why I tend to get it out of the way ASAP. Got it done and now I feel better.
Today, it was time for a longer run. I thought that 8 sounded like a nice number. I bounded out the door with the intent of running to Schaeffer’s Chapel and tossing a few little corners in here and there to equal the 8 mile distance I wanted.
Things were going great! I had close to 4 miles under my belt. Once I ran to Schaeffer’s Chapel and back to the house, that would give me my 8. Easy Peasy.
I ran down Robinson Road towards the part of Hwy 45S that is still being repaired. I planned on running the West side of the Hwy until I reached the place where I could cross the Hwy and head over to the Chapel.
As I was running along the Hwy, enjoying the warm weather, all of a sudden this stench filled the air.
SKUNK!!!
Oh No!!! A car had just hit a skunk right across the highway from where I was running. There was no getting away from it~~~I just had to keep going.
My eyes were watering and I could TASTE IT!!!
It was terrible!
I ran as fast as I could to get away from that terrible, fresh smell of mushed skunk.
When I got home, I stripped off my running clothes and showered.
MFH (My Favorite Husband) hasn’t said anything to me about smelling bad so maybe I escaped to worst of it?
Holy Cow! What a run!
