I Have No Idea What To Title This Blog Entry

I really don’t!  There are a ton of things I would like to share with you; most of them are from the race.  If you don’t want to hear any more about Saturday’s 50K, you probably will want to skip today’s blog entry. This may be a long post.

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I drove down to Laurel, Mississippi, Friday afternoon.  We wanted to get to the hotel and then drive to the race start.  The start was out in the National Forest and it was a bit of a drive.  We needed to time the distance and know where we were going.  It would be dark o’clock when we would be driving to the race start the next morning.

It was a good thing we did this!  It was about a 45 minute drive.  There were some turns that were difficult to find.  We almost got stuck in some mud, but we were successful.

On our way to trying to locate the start, we found a Forest Ranger in a pick up truck.  We stopped to ask him if he knew how much further down the road it was to the starting line.  He did and then he gave us an earful.  Not bad, mind you, it was more of an, “You Ultra runners are nuts!” earful.

He told us that, “No matter what the weather, hot, cold, wet, dry, muddy, flooded…y’all tell us that it was perfect!  You are the happiest people I have ever met.  Maybe I should take up this running stuff.”  Then he just sat there and shook his head.  He was a very puzzled man.  He was also a big help because we were then able to drive to the exact spot we needed to be the next morning.

It was such a fun, fun race!  Even though I was sick, I had a blast!!!  At the end of this post, I’ll put my official race pic that came in last night.  This pic was taken at mile 24.  I had taken three spills by then.  Shortly after this pic was taken, I changed into short sleeves for my last loop.  It was warming up (finally) and I was starting to get too hot.

I met quite a few people that were FB friends while out on the trail.  I hadn’t met any of them IRL and we didn’t know who we were while we were out there running.  It was after we were posting online and putting our pics up that we put two and two together and we were saying, “That was YOU I ran with!  I wish I had know it was you!”  and all that sort of thing.

Funny stuff.

The official race report was posted early yesterday afternoon.  As runners were coming across the finish line, they were trying to post tentative results on a table so people could see how they did.  I thought I was #10 overall female finisher.  I was wrong.

I was #8 overall female finisher AND I won my age group!!!

Now, y’all know that I’m not the excitable type.  Right!?!  HA!!!

I’m here to tell you, I am on cloud 9 about this!!!  Pretty exciting stuff!!!  *insert HUGE smile*

Poor MFH, he has been having to listen to me as the race results came in.  When I told him I had won my age division, he wasn’t surprised at all.  That’s MFH for you.  🙂

He left early this morning.  He is going to be in Birmingham, Alabama, until sometime on Wednesday.  He is taking radio classes again to get a fancier certification for our radio station.  He wants us to do this right.  I agree with him!  We have a chance here to really do something good and we should do everything in our power to do a top notch job.  http://www.wmfhlp.org/  is the web page that tells about what we are trying to do.

So, that is what is going on.  I’m still under the weather.  Here in a couple of minutes, I going to shower and then go pick up the animals from Reggie’s House.  The cats will want in and out and in and out and in and out for the rest of the day.  Paxton will pass out in the living room with his stuffed pink puppy…his favorite toy, for the remainder of the day.  I’ll crawl back under the covers and try to sleep off this fever.

I’m not running again today.  I took yesterday off, too.  If I’m still feeling iffy, I won’t run tomorrow either.  Hope to be able to get back to it on Wednesday, though, as I have a Half Marathon in a couple of weeks.  I can’t be a total slouch or that race, which should be pretty easy, will be a hard one and I don’t want that!

Take care, all!  Happy Monday!!!
