Boy, it is ever cold out there!
Wowzers!
The NWS (National Weather Service) forecast an overnight low of 15* and when I got up this morning, it was 15* on the button. Hard to pull the wool over their eyes!
If you recall, yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that I was having trouble with my running schedule. I was trying to figure out how to move my runs around due to the nasty weather we have pending. After chatting with my coach, he moved things around a bit and I found myself only having a 4 mile run this morning.
Sweet!
I hopped out of bed this morning ready to greet the day. I was mentally prepared for that 4 miler. My thoughts were, “Let’s do this!!!”
Then, I let the dog out.
Holy Cow! It was C.O.L.D. out there!!! Time to rethink this.
I had a few bites of some cheesy grits and drank my coffee while I thought.
I have an insulted UA compression shirt that I wear under my insulated Nike running jacket. Normally (in the 20’s), that’s warm enough. Hmmm…That’s when I remembered that I have a Fila jacket.
I don’t care for that Fila jacket and I’ll tell you why. It’s too big. It’s a men’s size small and I am a women’s extra small. The jacket is waaay long and the zipper scratches my neck. I know…Cry me a river.
Today, though, that might be just what I needed. If I wore that on top of the UA and Nike stuff. I’d be okay. I only had to do a 4 miler after all. So, I started layering.
I pulled on my long running tights, the UA and Nike tops, the Fila jacket, my ear muffy thing (UA), visor, a pr of gloves with mittens over those and last but not least, I stole a bandanna from my dog.
Yes. I am not proud of this, but I flat out stole from my dog.
Paxton, my pudgy pooch, is now too fat to wear his bandannas so they have been washed and put away in a drawer for some time. I grabbed the first one I found and tied it around my face. I bounded out the door for the best 4 miler I have run in a very long time.
That was such a great run! Aside from freezing, it was awesome!!!
It is a pretty, sunny Mississippi morning. Nobody was out and about because they all have the sense God gave them to stay in when it’s this cold! HA!
My legs are almost completely recovered from last Saturday’s marathon so I had #HappyLegs for my run.
Life is good!!!
