[today’s run: 3.75 miles]
Today I finished up the breezeway project by painting the 2×8 that I installed yesterday.
The goal of the project was to get the center sag under control and let the screen door swing out fully open. I propped up the cut down 2×4 supports and installed the 2×8 as closely as I could given the swing of the door. That done, I removed the props and the 2×8 is now doing most of the lifting. I then had to do a little bit of chisel work in the lower cut-down 2×4 support to clear the door on very wide swings. It now opens more than 90 degrees.
In the middle of the day I drove up to “the farm” and had a nice afternoon working with brother-in-law Mike as he continues the renovations on the old farmhouse.
In the evening I sorted out the tail lights on the boat trailer, so that is now ready to roll on Saturday. I believe I have located and piled up all of the pieces to get the boat in the water and the motors in action. We may need to buy some new fuel deliver hose though, the old stuff is very stiff. We have new tires and working lights on the trailer.
We had a power outage at home yesterday evening and it lasted long enough to take the computers down at the radio station. I was unable to get them restarted, so that project will wait for me to return home.
I’m planning to go to the state fair tomorrow. I am a bit conflicted about it. I’ve been staying with the elders and enjoying eating with them. But most of the time I have been outdoors working on various projects. I guess I will start off the day in that direction and if I get bored at the fair I can always come back.
