Longer test

[Today’s run: 3.5 miles]

Since last fall we have been running the LPFM radio station on the weekends, so that I can keep an eye on it and also to help us figure out audio levels, and such things.

It’s been going fairly well.  I had to do some work on the transmitter when a chip capacitor failed in the final amplifier.  But I think I got that working ok.

We’ve left it on now since last friday, the 5th.  Today is the 9th.  So it has been an extended test.

The other issue is the noise in this room from the transmitter cooling fan.  I’ve been contemplating a way to get my daily work done in a quieter environment.  It may be that we will yet move the transmitter to a different room.  But for now I have moved my work area to the “spare” bedroom.

This is a three bedroom house and I’m slowly taking it over with my junk.  I think maybe I need to acquire an “out building” to do some of this stuff.  I’m looking into that.  But for now I work in the spare bedroom while the transmitter is on.
