[Today’s run: rest day]
I worked a bit today on disassembling the mass spectrometer.
It is basically two racks. The shortest rack has a lot of vacuum lines and the like. The largest rack is mostly electronics.
I was able to disassemble most of the shortest rack. After getting power supplies and control units out, we were able to get it down off of the pickup truck. In the garage I started taking off parts from the vacuum chamber. The smaller vacuum pump is now off and I have some pictures up on ebay.
Next up is the larger vacuum pump and the vacuum chamber itself. I think the chamber parts are stainless steel and I’m hoping to get about 50 cents a pound at the local scrap yard. We’ll see.
I have a couple of vacuum actuators and some small electronic vacuum valves to try on ebay also.
