Stray dog

[today’s run: 4.4 miles]

Our run today took us to the T intersection of Evans Road and Limerock Road.  Turning south on Limerock road, about a quarter mile south is another T where South Evans Road continues to the east and Limerock continues south.

If we turn east on South Evans Road we can do the Silo route.

About a month ago we noticed a stray dog, beagle-type, living in the culvert under South Evans Road at that T intersection with Limerock.  We’ve seen him every time we go that way since then.  We saw him again this morning.

He doesn’t look too bad, not bone-skinny.  I think people have been feeding him.

When we turn the corner at Evans and Limerock, we can see him lying in the middle of Limerock road at his intersection.  We give him a shout and he gets up and starts beagle-ing, like beagles do.  And he wanders down into the ditch near his culvert, ready to take cover if we turn out to be evil winged-monkeys or something.

On the days we run further, we stick to the opposite side of the road so as not to crowd him.  We come back the same way and he gets to beagle at us twice.

His comfort distance is about 15 feet.  Any closer and he either backs up or heads for the culvert.
