Second weather station (update)

[Today’s run: 5 miles]

When we last touched on the weather station project(s), I had just put the third and unused weather unit up on ebay.

That worked out pretty well.  I sold the unit and it is on it’s way to the buyer.  And we made enough on the deal to cover the expenses for everything, more or less.

I’m working on the second weather station now.  I mounted the unit on a post outside and had it talking to my computer via the serial port.  I ordered and received shipment of a new Beaglebone Black single-board computer (adafruit.com)  and the little rs-232 level shifter (sparkfun.com)  and other assorted pieces.

I wrestled with getting wifi to work on the BBB,  still no success there.  But I do have the BBB talking to the weather station via serial port.  I’m going to go ahead and get wview installed.   I should be able to do that. Then I will come back to the wifi issue.

If I get those parts working then the next thing is to get into power management.  I already have the solar panel.  I’ll need to pick up a battery and charge controller.
