Some Silvertone Success

[Today’s run: Limerock Road – 4 miles]

We finally got some real radio sound coming out of that Silvertone console that we’ve been working  on.

Here’s the list of things we have fixed, as best as my memory serves:

  • 1) new capacitors
  • 2) a few new resistors also
  • 3) rewound the speaker field coil
  • 4) repaired the speaker cone
  • 5) lots of new tubes
  • 6) repaired IF transformer  (see picture that shows where we were able to splice the wire back together

And we still have antenna connections to redo,  no knobs yet, no dial yet, a dial lightbulb that needs replaced and a bunch of rubber grommets to replace.

But!  We were able to hear radio signals on the thing.
