Repeater run amok

[Today’s run: nothing – rest day]

I’ve been listening to my scanner the last couple of days while working.

There is a repeater in West Point, MS.  The frequency is 147.180 if I remember correctly.  The thing id’s as <callsign removed>.  And it seems to be having some problem.  Actually, I’d say there is some signal getting into it and tripping it.  It puts out a regular squelch tail and “roger beep” every few seconds in a steady stream.

So I sent <callsign removed> an email.  He totally disowned responsibility saying that he resigned as the trustee in 2005 and left the area 6 years ago.  He now lives down on the Alabama gulf coast 250 miles away.

I did some more searching and I think I’ve found a live body.  I sent him an email and I’m hoping maybe to hear back from him about whether they are going to fix it.

I hate to take it off of my scanner, but maybe I will have to do that.
