Dinner Guest

Today’s Run;  3.42 miles

We had a guest for dinner this evening.  My son came over for dinner.  I had made a meatloaf yesterday and it was going to take my husband and myself an eternity to eat it on our own, so my son came over to help!  Was not that a thoughtful thing to do?  The meatloaf is now history.

My dog loves my son, or should I say loves his shoes!  Around Noon today, I told the dog (Paxton) that my son was coming over and the dog immediately ran to the door and started barking and looking.  You could see the look on his doggie face saying, “I don’t see him!  Where is he!?!”  When my son finally showed up after classes, the dog was so excited he could hardly stand it.  His little stump of a tail was going back and forth so fast, it was a blur.  Silly dog.

So, after my son came in the house it was “time to try to eat the shoe game” and Paxton tried to chew on my son’s shoes.  Of course, Paxton was discouraged from doing that and when my son left to go home later today, both shoes were still intact.

The cat, Kali, does not like my son.  She does not even try to be polite about it.  She turns her kitty nose up in the air, turns tail and leaves the room.  End of discussion.  Snob.  No manners at all.  But the dog more than makes up for Kali’s indifference.

We live a sedate life I guess.  The antics of the animals are sometimes the highlights of our days.  Should prove interesting on Thanksgiving this coming Thursday.  We will have my son, my parents and possibly a totally excellent 91 year old woman from my parents church (her visit is still tentative).  The dog will have to be in his “box” for the day (his “box” is actually the solarium with the doorway blocked off~so, he has an entire room to himself in which to be his overly enthusiastic self) and the cat should be alright on her own.
