Today’s Run 3.44 miles
My son came with me on my run this morning! My husband was up most of the night on a project from work and was pretty tired this morning, so we let him get some beauty sleep.
We headed out the door 7:00ish at a decent pace. I was very much aware of the age difference because he was very perky with quite the bounce in his step and I was my usual plod along like a turtle pace. “Slow and steady finishes the race”.
We were about a quarter mile down the road when we heard a jingle, jingle, jingle then, “MEOW!, MEOW!, MEOW!”. We turned around and saw Kali, my daughters cat, running behind us as fast as she could go. I could hear her panting really loud but she wouldn’t stop running and jingling and meowing. She was really kicking up a fuss. I was afraid she would have a kitty heart attack or something.
We kept on going, (I wanted to take her back home but my son said to keep going…so we did), and soon we did not hear her anymore. We did another two miles and turned around to go home. We were talking and laughing as we ran and came within two tenths of a mile from where we last heard the cat when, “MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! jingle, jingle, jingle” (she has a bell on her collar) and here came Kali, lickity-split around the corner. She had followed us an entire half mile and then waited for us to come back. I do not know if that is really dumb or really smart.
Kali followed us all the way home, MEOWing on the top of her little kitty lungs. Now, the rest of the day, when she has tried to meow, you get this “mEoW, MeoW, mEOw”. Kali meowed herself into kitty laryngitis. Poor Kali, she ran a over a mile today and that is a lot for a little cat!
