Tornadoes and Running

November went out with a bang!

Tuesday evening, November 29, we had a huge storm system roll through Mississippi.  It was a biggie!!!  The National Weather Service had been telling us that bad things were going to happen and this time, they were right!

I had been watching the weather radar Tuesday afternoon and saw the storms approaching.  MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I decided to do our planks a little earlier than usual…just in case we had severe weather.  Castro was a helping kitty by doing side planks along with us. LOL!!!

We had no more finished our planks when the our weather radio went off!  We had a tornado warning and we needed to head off to the bedroom closet.

The bedroom closet is the safest place we have for tornadoes.  We are under no illusion that it will give us much protection during a tornado but we work with what we have.  For the first time ever, Paxton joined us in the closet. Usually he’s hiding in the hall bathroom.  It was unusual that he would want to be with us in the closet!

The weather radio went off again a few hours later.  Tornado warning #2

After this warning it was close to 10:00pm and we were tired.  We went to bed.

Around midnight, the radio went off again and we headed to the closet for tornado warning #3.

It finally went off for the last time at 1:15.  Tornado warning #4.

We were tired and just wanted to sleep.

MFH and I would listen to the radio while we were in the closet and knew about where the tornadoes were located.  One of them was VERY close to our house.

The next day I decided to run over and take a look.  The tornado was supposed to be close to this little Chapel.  I love this chapel!  It’s one of my favorite places to run to and it broke my heart to think it might have been hit.  When I got there, it was fine.  YAY!!!

The trip to the Chapel was part of a nice 10 mile run.  Lovely run yesterday morning!

On the way home, though, I passed a lot of county road crew trucks hauling away storm debris.  They were coming from the opposite direction than I had run.  I was scheduled for miles this morning (Thursday) as well, so I decided to run that direction today.

About a half mile *as the crow flies* our neighbors weren’t so fortunate.

As far as I can figure, the tornado popped back up, jumped our place and landed again here.

These people have a huge and beautiful place.  The entire property is surrounded by an iron fence.  It’s very pretty!  Their house looked okay from the road but the rest of their place got slammed.

Their pretty iron fence is twisted and mangled.  Most of their trees are broken or completely destroyed.  This is where the county trucks were coming from yesterday.  They were still there this morning working to clean up the damage.

It was sad.  I’m super glad nobody was injured but still, it’s always sad to see storm destruction.

On a happier note, one of the road crew guys introduced himself to me.  He is the man who built the house in which MFH and I now live!  How about that!?!  He built it 10-12 years ago.  Things didn’t work out for him so he sold it and now we have it.  He asked if we liked it and I told him we were very happy here.  That seemed to make him happy.  I’m glad!
