Race Face Time

I’m in Houston, Texas~flew here last night.  Seeing as I’m Houston, that means it’s almost race day!

How did this race get here so fast!?!

I’ve only been registered for this race 3 or 4 weeks.  Not very long.  Definitely not long enough to have the time to get all worried about it.  That’s what I thought, anyway.  Here I am, sitting in my hotel room having kittens.  I’m a wreck!!!

I flew to Houston from Birmingham, Alabama, yesterday afternoon.  MFH (My Favorite Husband) drove me from our house to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to #1 Son’s apartment.  He traded me off to #1 Son who then drove me to Birmingham and dropped me off at the airport.

We had to stop for gas and go through a drive through…all the stuff that whittles away at your travel time.  All of a sudden we found ourselves running an hour behind schedule!  I’ve felt like I’ve been in catch up mode ever since.  LOL!

#1 Son got me to the airport just fine.  I had a few minutes to sit and catch my breath at the airport so there were no worries about missing my flight.  I just need to sit back and relax!

What did I see at the airport?  I thought you’d never ask!!!

I saw Monks!  At first I thought maybe they were dressed up for a party or something, but nope~they were real live Monks!  Franciscan Monks to be precise.  How awesome is that!?!

I was fascinated!

Once on the plane, I was seated next to a young guy.  He was 22 and studying for grad school.  He wants to be a lawyer.  Specifically a lawyer for athletes.  Interesting!  We chatted the entire flight.

He was very tall (6’6″) and was complaining because his head was bumping the top of the plane.  This really tickled my funny bone because at 4’11” I’d never encountered or thought of something like that being a problem!  #shortpersonproblems vs #tallpersonproblems   He was pretty squished the whole flight.

Once we landed, some of my fellow Renegade Endurance teammates picked me up at the airport.  That was super nice of them!

Renegades.  Good people!    http://www.renegadeendurance.com/

I miss MFH.  Traveling solo?  Well, I just miss MFH but I have managed to find the #silverlining in traveling without him.  I can set the room temperature to whatever I want!  #imnotfreezing  YAY for a warm room!!!

Tomorrow, I meet my coach and other teammates IRL (in real life) for the first time.  We’re heading over to the race site.  We’ll be setting up the team tent and running a few miles on the trail to work the kinks out before Saturday.

Saturday, gun time is 7:00am.  It’ll be time to paste on my Race Face and get down to business.

Time to run this thing!!!
