It’s the Little Things

First things first, I’d like to introduce you to my new BFF:

Both MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I have the head cold from h____.  This is a doozie!  Can’t remember the last time I’ve felt this bad.

Wednesday, after my 16 miler, I tried to lay down for a nap.  That run had started at 2:00am and I was tired.  That was the day the house phone decided to ring off the hook.  *figures*  No nap.

Wednesday afternoon, I started getting a scratchy throat but didn’t really think any thing of it.  Ran a recovery run Thursday and mowed and was feeling rough by the end of the day.  Friday?  I was out for the count and I have been since then!  Same with MFH.  We are both non-functioning people right now.  Hahaha!!!

We stayed home from church today and I didn’t even run my scheduled miles.  This was the first time EVER I’ve bailed on miles! We are doing a big. fat. nothing.

So, this afternoon, we had a thunderstorm roll in.  It turned out to be a biggie!  Funny thing about this storm, we never once got a warning or anything from the National Weather Service on the weather radio or our cell phone.  That’s very out of character.

This storm seemed to park over our house for more than an hour.  The power flickered 6 times before it threw in the towel and called it a day.

Paxton high tailed it for the hall bathroom.  That is his sanctuary when we have bad weather.  For a while there, I didn’t think he would ever come out again!  Poor Paxton!!!

First we just lost power, then we lost internet.  Losing internet???  We both live and breathe on the internet!  This. Was. Not. Good.

MFH and I resorted to cell phones and our data plan.  Funny how fast a cell phone battery drains!

We stopped using the cell phones.  Seeing as the power wasn’t back up, we had no way of recharging them.  What a bother!

MFH tried to call ATT-Uverse to find out the status of getting our internet back.  The trick was talking to a real person!  I’m not a big fan of those automated, talking to a machine and going through the menu a zillion times.  Those things drive me nuts.  Fortunately, MFH is a very patient man (he has to be to be married to me 31 years!) and soldiered through.

I am happy to report that after three hours and two drained cell phone batteries, we have power AND internet.

YAY!!!

We still have those nasty head colds, though.  Hahaha!!!

It’s the little things.
