Ringing Phones and 3:30 Running

The plan, as it stood last night, was to go to bed around 8:00.  I had set my alarm for 3:30 am and was going to run 13 miles before it got super hot.  We are under heat advisories for the week.  The weather (heat/humidity) we are having right now is no joke.  The heat index values are supposed to be 110* all week (along with Mississippi’s lovely humidity!) so any running needed to be done at early o’clock.

I put Paxton out for the night so he could do his last “good boy.” When he was back in the house, I went to bed.

Both of the cats were in the house as well.

I fell asleep immediately.  I was already pretty tired.  I was looking forward to a good nights sleep.

RIIIIIIINNGG!!!!!

I opened an eye.  It was 8:30 pm and my phone was ringing.

*groan*

I answered the phone.

“Hello?”

“Congratulations!  You have won an all expense paid trip to the Bahamas!”

Click.

I hung up on the cheerful recording.

Went back to sleep.

RIIIIINNNNGGG!!!!  9:15 pm

*ugh*

REALLY!?!

“This is Bridgette with card holder services…”

*click*  My poor phone.  I may have slammed it down.

10:30 PM

“Prrrrr…”

It was Castro.  He wanted out.

I got up, staggered to the door and let him out.

Hopefully, some uninterrupted sleep.  I did some mental math and figured how much sleep I could get before the alarm went off.  Asleep immediately.  I did not pass “Go” and did not collect $200.00.

*BOINK!*

I was wide awake!

I look at my clock.  2:30 am

2:30!?!  Noooooo!!!!!

I knew if I went back to sleep for just one hour, I would feel awful for my run so I threw in the towel and got up.  Toast, coffee, fed the animals and bounded out the door before 3:30 am.

I groaned when I look at the thermometer before starting the run.  It was already 80*  I couldn’t believe it!  How could it be 80* at 3:30 in the morning!?!  That was the whole reason I was getting up at this time of day.  Nothing to do but go get the miles done.

The run itself was uneventful.  I was hoping for an 11:30 pace but with it already at 80*, I was content with my 12:11 pace.

I staggered back into the house to a hungry Paxton and cat, Kali.  Goodness!  They hadn’t eaten in close to three hours!  #Animalabuse  So I fed them.  Changed into some dry clothes and crashed on the bed.  I thought I would try to catch a little bit more sleep.

RIIIIINNNNGGG!!!!

NOOOOOO!!!!

It was #1 son.  He was getting ready to go to class.  He is taking summer classes at Mississippi State University to bump up his graduation time.  He was just calling to shoot the breeze a little bit.  I tried to chat for a little bit but to be honest, it was a fail.  He laughed at me and let me go back to sleep.

Clank. Vroom. Bow-Wow-Wow!!!

The garbage men pulled up.  Paxton was letting me know they were here.

Thanks, Paxton.

Tried to sleep some more.  RIIIINNNNGGG!!!

I had won ANOTHER trip to the Bahamas!

#shootmenow

It is now 2:45 PM.  I’m very sleepy.  I’d really like a nap!  If I fall asleep now, though, that means that I won’t be able to sleep tonight.

THAT, people, is my sad, sad tale of the day.
