Paxton, My Hero

Paxton, my pampered, pudgy pooch, is playing the role of guardian angel this week.  He is the keeper of the house.  The man of the house, as it were (which is quite the trick seeing as we had him “fixed” when he was 4 months old).

MFH (My Favorite Husband) is in Birmingham, Alabama until Friday evening.  He is taking a radio class, working towards being a radio station guy.

Why is he doing this?

We are still working on getting our non-profit radio station on the air.  Classic Book Radio.  http://www.wmfhlp.org/

MFH and I are concerned about the literacy rate in our part of the country and we would like to offer a solution/tool towards helping improve the literacy of the individuals who are our friends and neighbors.  Literacy isn’t just down in our area, it is declining everywhere.  That is why we have decided to stream all our content.

Anyway, MFH is off getting some education/certifications so we do this thing right.  (If you are observant, you will notice that our call sign is WMFH.  MFH (My Favorite Husband)~get it!?)

Back to the home front.

Since MFH is gone for a few days, that leaves Paxton in charge.

He did a great job this morning!

I left for my marathon recovery run (Major Ouchie!!!).  Paxton was sitting by the front door when I left.  When I returned a little over an hour later, he was still sitting by the front door being a good dog.  YAY, Paxton!

As the day has progressed, however, Paxton is getting a little more lax in his duties.  This has a lot to do with the leftover pizza on the dining room table.

Why is there a pizza on the dining room table?  I left it there so I wouldn’t forget to put it out with the rest of the trash this evening.  Tomorrow morning (early) the garbage guys come and I don’t want to get up that early to put out the trash.  If I put the pizza in the fridge, I’ll forget it.  It won’t fit in the trash can, so, it is on the dining room table.  Makes perfect sense, right?

Here’s the story and where Paxton dropped the ball.  That naughty kitty, Kali, managed to open the pizza box while I was getting ready for my eye surgery.  When I came into the kitchen, I saw Kali snag a piece of pizza and bat it onto the kitchen floor.  She hopped down and proceeded to nibble on it.

Paxton???  He was just waiting his turn on that piece of pizza.  He knew there was NO WAY that cat would be able to eat the entire piece of pizza.  He’s no dumb puppy!

It’s going to be a long, long week.   🙂
