Paxton, my pampered, pudgy pooch, has been my helper today. It started with breakfast.
Every morning for breakfast, I fix some cheesy Grits and a cup of coffee. I never, ever, eat all of my Grits. Too filling~especially on running mornings. If I eat too much before I run, well, I can get tummy troubles.
Tummy Troubles while on a run means frantically looking for large trees or shrubs that can substitute as a potty. Not. Fun. (TMI?)
Paxton sits and waits patiently while I enjoy my Grits, knowing full well that I will scrape my leftovers into his doggie dish. This makes his Dog Chow much more palatable. Spoiled dog.
When I got home from my run today (Coldest run ever, btw), Paxton was there to greet me. He had missed me. He wanted to know if I was going to have something to eat right away because he was hungry.
Nope. That dog should know by now that I never eat right after a run. My tummy doesn’t like that. Better to wait an hour or two before eating.
Paxton didn’t WANT to wait an hour or two! He wanted food now! He did not want Dog Chow, he wanted the KFC that #1 Son and MFH (My Favorite Husband) had eaten for lunch while I was still out on my run. Ahhh!!! I was starting to clue in. (She can be taught.)
I had been sitting about an hour now and starting to chill in my sweaty running stuff. Time for a shower. Paxton followed me.
Paxton followed me into our bedroom where I laid out what I was going to wear after my shower. He followed me into the closet while I got out my robe.
Paxton followed me down the hall and into the bathroom. I shut the door and turned on the shower.
Paxton parked himself firmly on the bath mat.
Okie dokie! I got into the very warm shower and started getting all sudsy. That’s when I felt a draft.
I rinsed my face (don’t want soap in the eyes!) and looked. There was Paxton. He had moved the shower curtain open and was trying to drink the water as it came out of the shower head.
What a weirdo.
He has doing his puppy darnedest to get me to hurry up. He knew that the KFC was still in the fridge. He also knew that as soon as I got finished getting ready, I would get some of that KFC!
I tried to keep the shower curtain closed but he was determined so I just finished up my shower as quickly as I could and hurried and got dressed and beautified. All of this with Paxton following me every step of the way.
FINALLY…
I headed to the kitchen.
Paxton was an eagle eye by now!
I took the KFC tub out of the fridge and put a piece of chicken on a plate and zapped it in the microwave.
Paxton was hopping up and down now. He was thinking in his little puppy head, “Yes!”
I sat down with the chicken. The extra crispy wasn’t so crispy now that it had been in the fridge and zapped. Plus, I don’t like all that sodium. What to do????
I looked and there was Paxton. He was sitting right in front of me. He had his puppy head tilted to one side. Ears perked up and his paw raised. He was doing everything he could to keep his enthusiasm in check. He really, really, really wanted that chicken!!!
*sigh* I didn’t want the crunchy skin part anyway, did I?
