Today’s Run:  Rest Day

We had an excellent Christmas and today I am celebrating again.  Why so late?  Because I received quite a few gift card from Lowe’s.  Remember yesterday’s lamp shade?  That was part of a Lowe’s gift card.  I got side tracked during my shopping for my larger Christmas present.  That was what my husband and I were working on today.

We decided to put up bead board and a chair rail in the kitchen BEFORE I painted the kitchen.  I really wanted to paint the kitchen this Winter and hence, the Lowe’s gift cards.  I guess I was not very subtle in my request for the cards because I point blank asked for them.

This is the beginning of the kitchen

You will notice that the walls are all white and that we have snapped a chalk line where we want the chair rail to sit.

We used Liquid Nails to set the bead board, then my husband used his brad nailer to finish attaching the board to the wall (note unhappy dog~poor Paxton did not appreciate the noise we were making).

Finally, after much measuring and cutting, we finished the West wall of the kitchen.  We still have to do the South and North side of the kitchen and then PAINT!  It will be a very happy yellow (NOT canary yellow~a warm, golden yellow~trust me).

So, this is where we stopped for the evening.  Aside from my poor carpentry skills, I think this is going to look great!
