Happenings

[Monday: 3.2 miles; Wednesday: 3.2 miles; Today 3.8 miles in Starkville]

Last Saturday I didn’t run in Starkville like I usually do. Instead I was back on the ham club radio tower to strip off the feedline and get some of the last hardware off. That went well. It took about two hours. We had a lot of help from the ground.

I have another potential tower project coming up this summer, a guy wants us to take down a tower that is about 5 sections tall.

Last week my wife started taking her heart rhythm medicine and that seems to have had an immediate effect. She was able to do a couple of good runs without having to stop and walk. She is feeling much better.

We had a lot of rain this week and that kept us from getting out with the new mower. She picked out a Bad Boy mower from the local Tractor Supply store. And she mowed with it yesterday (Friday) and is very happy. It drives a bit differently from our old one.

A nephew from Starkville came over and picked up the old John Deere z425 and hauled it off. It does still run and mow. But it gets cantankerous.

For a few years I have been following a YouTube channel of two guys building a sailboat. They started out by cutting down trees and having the logs milled by a portable sawmill.

Now, 7 years later they launched the boat.

Arabella being launched
And now afloat.

I looked it up – Arabella is in Mattapoisett. Our Pleasant Hill neighbors directly to the west lived there in retirement and I visited once 40 years ago. They had a nice place in a wooded part of town – I think 213 North Street (there are lots of woods in that part of Massachusetts, which surprised me). Charlie took me on a tour of an industrial boiler he inspected over in New Bedford. They also showed me Plymouth Rock.

I Googled the family up and I think this is their oldest – very accomplished. – I vaguely recognize names of siblings Bruce and Doris. https://obituaries.gloucestertimes.com/obituary/charles-christopher-1080058955

With more Googling I think Norma died 1999 and Charlie in 2001.

Fun fact – Charlie was born in Fall River 1915 which is where Lizzie Borden lived.
