Bats in the belfry

[Today’s run: zero]

Well, not really bats and not the belfry, it’s wasps in the weather station.

I noticed this afternoon that the display of my weather station was showing some gaps.  So I logged in, had no problem logging in, and cleaned up some excessive log files and restarted the thing.

It gave indication that the software could not talk to the weather station unit itself.  That’s no good.

So I went out awhile ago and took the cover off and poked around.  Things looked OK in the control box where my computer and battery live.  Tried a few other things.

I eventually poked my screwdriver up under the shade-shield of the weather station and a few big wasps came out.  The next reboot, now it is starting to get a bit of data from the weather  unit again.  Still not working quite right.

I think those wasps were in there making a nest and maybe messed up the circuit board or chewed nearly through a wire or something.  (Can wasps do that?)

I think I’m going to probably have to take it down from the post and take it apart and clean it up.

Not tonight though.
