Sticky

[Today’s run: rest day]

Our beehive operation this year is down to just one working hive.

We started off the year with big plans.  We were going to split two working hives and make a total of four.  We purchased more equipment and did all the moving around.  But the bees didn’t cooperate.  We did get some spring honey, but the bees all seemed to want to congregate in one of the four hives.

That was that.  We closed down the other three and just finished the year with one.

On Friday we took one of the honey supers off of the hive and today we processed the honey.  We ended up with 15 jars.  We hope that will cover the requirements for Christmas presents, and etc.  It should work out.

Now the kitchen is sticky from dripped honey.  My wife cleaned it up.  The best method is to use lots of hot water.  But it seems to be sticky for a day or two until things have been washed over a couple of times.

And, now I have a bunch of wax I need to melt down to make candles and wax bars.
