[Today’s run: rest day]
Our A/C unit outside started making very unhappy noises toward the end of the day yesterday. The fan motor quit running and the compressor was squealing and it just wasn’t right.
I tore into it, worked on until almost 10:30 pm (I think). Never could get that fan to go again.
I called the HVAC guy today. He just left a little while ago. They put in a new fan motor and new capacitor.
I talked to him about putting together a quote for a replacement unit. I’m tired of putting money into this old thing. A new one would be more efficient and should last 10-12 years without a big repair.
We will see what kind of numbers he comes back with. I’m hoping it will be something that will also give us a bit of a break on the electric bill.
I can’t live in Mississippi without A/C. Not going to happen, particularly when I sit all day at a desk with some warm computer equipment around me. I get all sweaty and my arms stick to the table.
Don’t really know what he’s going to come back with. I may have to go see the bank for a loan.
