[Today’s run: 9.11 miles] (actually it was a bit more but my wife turned off her Garmin GPS at 9.11)
I’m on a variety of emailing lists which relate to ham radio activities. Earlier this year a man on one of them advertised “parts” for a SCAF filter project. At the time I had been wrestling with audio filtering needs, so this was apropos to me.
I responded. He sent me about 5 parts and the plans from a 1986 QST magazine. The parts he supplied were the more difficult ones to find.
I looked at the article. Pretty cool stuff. Eventually that article resulted in a commercial product called the SuperSCAF filter. You can find those on ebay periodically.
Anyway, I ordered the rest of the parts from Digikey.com , laid out circuit boards, got everything installed, and here we are. It works! I have everything laid out on a “breadboard”. That is easy to do because it requires no metal work and keeps everything electrically separated. I will probably use it a bit in the current configuration. Then I need to get a metal box and get things installed in the box. (I’ve had more than one project go bad at the “put it in a box” stage.)
