Oracle offshore sales

[Today’s run: nothing yet]

I received two phone calls this week from people claiming to work for Oracle.  Both just wanted to know about how I am using Oracle products.  Both went through a script of various areas of concern, security, upgrades, etc.  Professional sounding stuff.

I have received these calls before from both males and females, with India accents.  They want to know if I am interested in Grid Control, or Management Packs.

The frustrating thing is that I go through what I’m doing and what my plans are, and they pay zero attention.  I may get another call next week or six months from now and they don’t know who I am or what I’m doing… and I am kind of tired of going through it all over and over.

They tell me they work for Oracle.  They may even drop some names of Oracle reps.  Not that I would know much about that area since I seldom talk to real Oracle sales reps.  Have nothing against them, just have little reason to call them.  So these guys pretend to be calling from Oracle but I don’t think they really work for Oracle.  Would Oracle be that disorganized?

Today I opened a trouble ticket on Oracle’s technical support website about these calls.  I realize that is not really the appropriate venue but it is the one I have.  I want to know:  A)  if these people really work for Oracle and B) if so, how come they don’t know anything about me when they call and C) if they are just cold calling, how to get me off of their list.
