Today’s Run: 6.30 miles
This evening was my husband’s office Christmas party. There were about 250 people. A nice sized group. I have always enjoyed his office get togethers. The people with whom he works are, as a rule, very nice folk.
We met at the Embassy Suites Ballroom. They had appetizers, buffet and desserts. There was a free bar (two complimentary drinks, you paid after that) and a dance floor. A very nice party!
Because it was at the Embassy Suites, people were encouraged to “dress nice”. There was no official “dress code” but it may have been handy to have one. It always amazes me people’s definition of “nice dress”. This evening it seemed to be plunging necklines and very tight dresses. Unfortunate choices were made by very nice, matronly women. But enough of the dress. Most people looked great!
We had one gentleman at our table, who when first introduced was sullen. I really do not think that he wanted to be there. BUT, after four drinks, he was quite gregarious and thought he was the life of the party. Again, unfortunate. At least there were no lampshades to be worn. Again, the majority of the people there knew their limits and drank responsibly.
Let’s cut to the chase and talk about the dessert! Wow!!!!! (And if I say it backwards, it looks like woW!!!) They had the most amazing chocolate cake. It was just a huge slice of chocolate fudge!!!!! And I got a piece! Words fail me and unfortunately, so did my stomach. It was so rich that I could only eat three bites. What a waste. boo. But the three bites I had were terrific!
With the interesting people and the great food, I consider the evening a success!
