Today’s Run: 60 min lifting at the “Y”
There is a tradition in our family for special occasions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas~that is Dessert. Not that we have Dessert, that is a given. But a specific Dessert. Cherry Dessert. It is a staple~and it is usually my responsibility to make it (I like to make cherry dessert by the way).
I love Cherry Dessert but had never had it until I was married. It was a favorite of my husband’s family and I was taught how to make it by my mother-in-law. My husband and I introduced it to my family and it was an instant success, too. So, it is now tradition.
Today was the day to make the Cherry Dessert. First off is the graham cracker crust. Yummy! (Today I used my food processor to make the graham cracker crumbs!) Then you mix the cream cheese with the whipped cream and top the whole thing of with canned cherries. Decadent!
The only thing missing was my helpers.
When my kids were little they would fight over who got to lick the bowl, the spatula, the beaters…but the kids are grown and on their own now…so, enter Paxton. Paxton was more than happy to take the kids’ place! He begged, he pleaded, he drooled, he groveled…and he was successful.
The cherry dessert looks great and tomorrow will be the true test~the taste test. It is a nasty job but someone has to do it!
