Streetcar 5K

Today’s Run:  Rest day

Saturday is the big day~the beginning of another race season.  And what better way to start the season off than with a 5K in your hometown.

Our downtown has bragging rights to the birthplace of Tennessee Williams.  His home (300 Main Street) is the starting line and the finish line for the 5K in which we will be running.  Later on in the afternoon there will be more activities, the primary one being the “Stella” yelling contest.  It is bizarre.  People take turns standing on the sidewalk yelling, “Stella!!!” on the top of their lungs.  Strange.

Anyway, we toe the line at 8:00 am and then we’re off!  We drove the route this evening.  It is primarily flat until the last 2/3 of a mile then it gets a little ugly.  You run parallel to the river and run down, down, down and then back up, up, up.  Not much fun.  But I have run worse I guess (the 10K in Vicksburg, MS.  That was ALL hills).  So, we are looking forward to Saturday morning.  There is a potential for rain and in all honesty, that would be most welcome.  If it is raining, you know you will not overheat!  Here is the course for the race~see you there!
