Today’s Run:  Rest Day

Well, today the vertical posts on the arbor started to rise!  Yeah!  We want to get one section of the arbor complete before we leave for our vacation.  This is a very exciting thing.

We have spent the past two weeks digging holes for the footings and then filling them with concrete before the holes naturally fill up with water.  This makes for some fast work.

During this time I have learned how to use a post hole digger, how to break up concrete, and how to pour concrete.  It has been a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun.

So, today the first two posts are going vertical.  Big deal you say?  Yes, very big deal!  Soon the South side of our home will be shaded and comfortable.   We will plant Wisteria for a covering on the top of the arbor and purchase one of those humongous fans they have a Lowe’s to keep the air moving.  That way we can enjoy the “great outdoors”.

Yes, today really is an exciting day.  We can see the light flickering at the end of the tunnel.  This project (which we have been planning for two Summer’s) may be nearing completion.
