Grandma’s Marathon

Grandma’s Marathon is fast approaching.  The race is exactly two weeks from today!

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I are looking forward to this trip.  We really enjoy going for drives.  We enjoy the different countryside.  We like to explore little odd shops.  The chance to chat without having to deal with Paxton, Kali or Castro is kind of nice, too!

It sounds like our drive up to Duluth will be rushed.  That’s too bad because we had originally planned a leisurely drive.  We had thought we would stop in Iowa and visit with his parents, too.  Unforeseen things are….unforeseen!  Our leisurely drive will be a 16 hour jaunt straight to Duluth.  Do not pass “Go.” Do not collect $100.

Thursday we will go to the Expo.  I know we’re going to be really tired but I’d like to get the Expo over and done with.  Having that kind of thing hanging over my head bugs me to death.  Once it’s done, I can begin to relax and get my head ready for the race.

I’m amazed (again!) at the number of runners I will know up there.  It will be so much fun meeting so many incredible athletes IRL.  It will be terrific to get to chat with them.  Taking lots of pics.  Eating.  Drinking.  All of it!

MFH teases me and says he can’t take me anywhere!  He says no matter where we go, I know somebody there. Funny stuff!

The race is on Saturday.  Sunday I’ll have a few recovery miles to run~you know, to work out the kinks from Saturday.  We’ll rest up and get ready to leave Monday morning.

Monday and most of Tuesday we plan to meander down through Wisconsin and Michigan.  Tuesday evening, I’m supposed to meet my #IRun4 buddy (#IRun4Aiden) IRL!!!  How awesome is that!?!  I’m more excited about seeing that sweet guy than I am about the race!

For the first time ever, I’ll get to physically give him his race medal instead of mailing it.  BOOM!

Wednesday morning, it’s back on the road.  This time as far as Nashville.

I don’t know if you remember, but last September at the Berlin Marathon, MFH and I met another couple there.  The wife was running the race and we knew each other from an online running page.  We made plans to meet in Berlin and drag our husbands along.  All four of us hit it off!  We had tons of fun!!!  Anyway, we’ll be stopping in Nashville to meet them for dinner and have a nice evening.

Thursday, we drive the rest of the way home.

Whew!

A lot of stuff packed into a few days but it’s going to be tons of fun!!!  Wish us travel safety?
