Friday morning, MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I took my pampered, pudgy pooch, Paxton, to “Reggie’s House” for the second weekend in a row. MFH and I had a date on Saturday and we would be gone too long for Paxton to be left in the house alone. Reggie agreed to let Paxton spend the weekend so we made plans for our date.
Saturday morning arrived and MFH and I hopped in the car and drove east to Birmingham, Alabama. The NCAA Track & Field Championship were being held there. MFH had secured tickets for the two of us to watch the events all day on Saturday.
We arrived around noon. The place wasn’t too terribly crowded but that would soon change. We were very fortunate to get seats right in front of the finish line for the running events! Sweet! We were able to see all the events easily.
I was wanting to get some pics to make a collage for Aiden’s daily post. I had my cell phone out and was trying to get pics. I learned quickly that the athletes were a LOT faster than my camera! Hahaha!!!
We were watching the hurdles and I had my phone pointed directly at the hurdles in the middle of the race. On purpose, I clicked the button to take the pic BEFORE the runners got there and still the pic snapped AFTER the race was over. They were just that fast! ZOOM!!!
I was able to get one pic of somebody running.
Search me how I managed that! They were flying around that track!
Pole vaulting is something I’ve always wanted to try! Even when I was a little girl, that event…well, those bendy poles propelling you up and over the bar? I’ve just always wanted to try it!!! So of course, I HAD to get pic of pole vaulting. That turned out to be a little bit easier than the runners.
I don’t think I’d make a very good professional photographer. How about you? Hahaha!!!
The highlight of the day was the men’s 60 meter. A world record was set and we were there to see it! How awesome was that!?! I swear that even my eyes couldn’t keep up with the speed that those guys were running! The world record time yesterday was 6.47.
The seating was metal bleachers. Because we had gotten there early and because we didn’t want to lose our prime seats, we sat there from noon to 5:45. I don’t know about MFH, but my patoot was rebelling. It was time to go home. We had seen some amazing accomplishments. Some agonizing defeats and exciting victories.
On the way home we stopped for malts. I had a hot fudge malt and MFH his regular vanilla malt. That was our healthy dinner. 😉
Super fun day!!!
Today was my first run after having those toenails removed last Wednesday. In all honesty, I was terrified! I had absolutely no idea as to what to expect. You can imagine how tickled I was to run on happy feet! YAY!!!
My racing singlet from ChafeX arrived in yesterday’s mail as well. I am a very lucky girl to get to represent such a great product!!! Can’t wait for my next race so I can wear it! My next race is April 3 in Austin, Texas. It’s the Austin 10/20 http://www.austin1020.com/ . I have running friends in Austin and I am looking forward to meeting them IRL. Should be lots of fun!
