As usual, I began my Monday morning by tossing the bedding in the washer, making breakfast for MFH (My Favorite Husband) and myself and then calling MIL. MIL and I chat every Monday morning…usually for 1.5 hrs. We both look forward to our weekly call.
MIL knew I had a run to do so after a solid hour of talking, she started making noises to wrap up the conversation. You know, things like, “I’m not going to let you use talking to me as an excuse with your coach for not getting all your miles in.” and then keeping right on talking. Hahaha!!! I ended up heading out the door close to 9:30 this morning for my 10 miler.
It was a foggy morning in Mississippi today. Even with the phone call, it was still pretty thick when I headed out. I had a blinky light on the bill of my visor to try to improve my visibility to cars. Blinky lights and super bright clothing are my “go to’s” when running in iffy weather. Anyway, I headed out and down the street really not sure which route I was going to take. I was waffling between a few different choices.
I finally decided to turn right at the end of our road and take the hilly route. I hadn’t done any “serious” hills for about a week and I was due. Off I went.
The hilly part turned out to be pretty easy! I was surprised and happy about that. Hills are not my friend.
On my return I had another choice to make as I neared my street. I could do a few passes on my street and call it done OR I could keep on going and do the “Robinson loop.” I am soooo tired of running Robinson I could choke! Then again, every. single. run. regardless of where I go, I HAVE to run my street and the thought of two more extra passes on my street didn’t sound like a lot of fun either. What was sounding really nice right about this time was another cup of coffee. HA! I decided on the Robinson loop.
Up to the 4 way intersection and a right hand turn. Loop through the MB church parking lot and back to the 4 way. Through the 4 way and on down to where Robinson meets up with 45S. Yawn!
Then something caught my eye.
It was the horses!
The horses were out today!!!
YAY!!!
They’ve been hiding out in the barn lately because the weather hasn’t been so nice. The brown and white horse came up to the fence and whinnied for me to come over. I did.
That sweet horse reached his neck as far over the fence as he could for me to pet him. I couldn’t reach him so I hopped the ditch…right into a sticker bush. Hahaha!!!
I didn’t care about the bush because that horse is so great. I stepped carefully past the stickers and petted that horse on the nose. He let me hug his neck and then he gave me horse kisses! This is the second time he has done this and it totally makes my day!!!
I took a selfie with the horse and then took off to finish my run. I was glad I had taken the Robinson loop. It’s not every day you get horse kisses! 🙂
I walked in the door from my run and there was Paxton. He was sooo happy to see me. He ran up to say, “You’re back!” but he stopped dead in his tracks and his puppy nose went into overdrive.
“What in the world have you been petting!?!” He was saying. He was very, very upset.
Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! Sniff! and then a great big puppy frown. I felt moderately guilty. I changed quickly out of the running stuff and got that going in the laundry so he would forget about my treason.
Hahaha!!!
So, today’s run was 10.02 happy miles. Happy Monday!!!
