Paxton’s “Diet” and Running Stuff

Yesterday I decided that Paxton, my pampered, pudgy pooch, need to refrain from his Nutty Bar fix for a little bit.  Thanksgiving was coming up and he gets “Special Treats” during the holiday season.  Best to help him trim down a bit before all the “goodies” start rolling in.

I gave Paxton doggie treats yesterday instead of his usually nibble of Nutty Bar.

Animal Abuse!

Yea. Yea. Yea…

Trust me.  This dog is not going to waste away.

So doggie treats yesterday.

And…

Doggie Treats again today:

He was looking pretty pathetic when he got treats instead of Nutty Bars but decided beggars could not be choosers.

Smart dog.

Moving on to running stuff:

10 days from today is the Marine Corps Marathon.  I’m getting excited about this race!  I’ll be traveling with a Mississippi running friend and we are going to have a blast!

I’m afraid I’ll break down and cry when that Marine, whoever he/she may be, drapes a finishers medal over my head and around my neck!  That’s going to be the coolest thing ever!!!

The Marine Corps Marathon is October 25.  On November 7, I’m registered to run a 10 Mile race on the Mississippi Delta.  I’ll be meeting up with a lot of my Mississippi running friends for that race.  MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I are going to drive over early (early!) race day morning.  I’ll run.  We’ll hop in the car and drive home…AFTER I’ve talked and talked and talked and caught up with all the news from my running friends.  🙂

Thanksgiving Day.  Now, I’m pretty excited about this!  #1 Son and I are registered to run a Half Marathon in New Albany, Mississippi.  New Albany is about 1.5 hrs north of my house.  The race starts at 7:00 am.  We have to get there early enough to get our Bibs, run, awards ceremony and then drive home.  We should be home by noon.  Last year was the first year for this race.  I ran it and had a ball!  What a great way to kick off Thanksgiving!

I was chatting with my coach this afternoon.  We were discussing my races for the beginning of 2016.  I am registered for the Mississippi Blues Marathon on January 9.  I don’t have any other races until March 5 where I will be running the Mississippi 50 Trail Run (50M).  We were deciding when to start training for those two events.  Basically, the Mississippi Blues will just be a fun training run for the 50 Miler.  I figured as much.  I was surprised that my training was going to be starting as soon as it was!

My new training program begins November 15.  That gives me two whole weeks of “freedom.”  Two weeks to run whatever my little heart desires.  After that, it’s back to doing my assigned workouts.  Kinda.  Sometimes I have a tendency to do what I want anyway.  HA!  *I usually do what I’m told*

That’s what’s happening on the running front currently.

I’m afraid I’m going to have to close out this blog post.  Paxton is bugging me.  He really, really really wants a Nutty Bar.  That dog…  Hahaha!!!
