Mother’s Day

I’m not the sentimental type.  Never have been.

I know people who anticipate Hallmark Holiday’s like nobody’s business. They attempt to lay a pretty heavy guilt trip on others who don’t make such a big “hurrah” out of the same such “holiday.”  I don’t like being bullied into buying stuff out of guilt.

Probably, I need to change my perspective on how I view these holiday’s.  Quite honestly, I’ve never tried to change how I look at them.  I realize that to some people they are very important~~~I dunno.  They just seem like a pseudo-holiday to me.

Yesterday was a great Mother’s Day!  Seeing as we don’t make a big deal out of it, I had a lovely day.

My day began with MFH (My Favorite Husband) making pancakes.  He does this every Sunday~has almost every Sunday in the close to 30 years we’ve been married.  Lately, he’s been getting them ready a bit earlier due to the fact that our weather is getting toasty and I need to head out and grab my miles (run) before church and not overheat in the process.

I ran 8.50 miles yesterday morning and then we went to church.

Still sticking to the same Sunday routine.

After church, we hit Jimmy John’s for lunch.  Again, still the same.

After Jimmy John’s, we changed our Sunday routine.  We drove across the highway to Walmart and bought groceries!  Woo-Hoo!!!

We came home from Walmart.  MFH carried in the groceries and I put them away.  Back to routine here.

Now, things got very exciting!  We pulled internet cable through the attic!!!  How many of you lucky mom’s got to do that on Mother’s Day!?!

Haha!  We know how to live it up at our house.  🙂

Now, this may seem like a silly/strange thing to say, but this is real life at our house.  Enjoying each other’s company and working together.  I don’t need flowers or cards or any of the other fancy schmancy stuff that Hallmark tries to sell.  I have the unwavering love of my husband and a quick, “obligatory” phone call from each of my children.

“Hi, mom.  Happy Mother’s Day.   Love you.  Bye.”

That’s plenty for me.  My cup is overflowing!  🙂
