Poor Paxton is under the weather. He has been laying around like a lump of puppy for a few days.  He has also not been eating.

Seeing as Paxton is packing a few extra pounds, I wasn’t really all that concerned with him not eating quite as much as he used to but when he quit drinking any water as of last night, well, that wasn’t good.  So, we headed off for the vet today.

Before we left for the vet’s office, I had tempted Paxton with all his favorite foods.  Nothing doing.  I had filled his water dish with fresh, cool water last night and he hasn’t touched it.

This is so unlike him!!!  He usually eats and especially drinks non-stop!  I was getting worried.

When I have taken Paxton to the vet on previous visits, MFH (My Favorite Husband) has come along to help.  Paxton is….exuberant.  AND he outweighs me by 20 pounds.  At home, I can easily control him because, well, we are at home!  When we go someplace new and he is excited, I need all the help I can get.

Today, I did not need any extra help.

See?  I told you he was sick!

The vet took Paxton’s temp.  I straddled Paxton while the vet took his temp.  Paxton HATES getting his temp taken.  By straddling him, I can talk to him and pat his chest.  This calms him while the vet does whatever it is he does.

Paxton’s temp was 105*.  This is high.  Poor puppy!!!

The vet left to get a shot and some pills.

When he came back into the room, the vet gave Paxton his shot and handed me some antibiotic pills.  Paxton gets one pill twice a day for seven days.  However, if Paxton is not showing improvement by Wednesday, I am supposed to bring him back in.  Otherwise, I can wait to take him in next Monday.

That is the news on Paxton’s trip to the vet.  I took a pic of him while we were waiting for the vet.  Usually, Paxton is poking his puppy nose into every nook and cranny of the room.  Here, he is laying down.  This is very out of character.
