Today was an errand day.
I had a list of small things that have needed to be done all week and because I had been procrastinating all week, today, it HAD to be done. After my morning run and lunch with MFH (My Favorite Husband), Paxton, my pudgy pooch, and I headed off on errands.
Paxton thought he was a lucky dog. He doesn’t get to go on car rides very often so he thought he had scored big! What he didn’t know was that one of the stops was to the Vet, but after he realized he didn’t have to go in, all was well.
The main stop today was to WalMart.
Ugh.
I put that off as long as I possibly can.
Seeing as I had a couple of birthday cards to get, I couldn’t wait too long to go. Today, it had to be done. Paxton stayed in the car with his head out of the window, watching people come and go, while I went in.
I hurried as quick as I could and was in and out in 15 minutes. For a WalMart run, that’s pretty good!
At the checkout line, there was only one lady in front of me. That’s why I picked that line. I thought it would be quick.
Wrong.
The lady was buying necessities. Diapers. Milk. Bread, Eggs. Just the basics. Her order rang up to 47.50.
Why does basics have to cost so much!?!
She swiped her card.
It was declined.
She tried another card.
Declined.
She tried her third and last card.
Declined.
She was trying very hard not to cry.
The check out lady told her that she would have to put her stuff back. She started pushing her buggy off to the side. Her head was down. She obviously was very upset and embarrassed.
Today is our payday.
I swiped my card before the checkout lady could delete the transaction and paid for the ladies stuff.
That’s when the flood gates opened.
That lady was sobbing and giving me the biggest hug I’ve ever had in my life.
We’ve all been there.
I wish her well.
