SCORE!

For Christmas 2014, MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I bought each other a pair of running shoes.  His arrived by the end of the week and he has been enjoying running in them.  Mine are not here yet.

I run in Altra Olympus.  They are making a few changes in the Altra Olympus.  “Improvements,” if you will.  This always makes me nervous.  I like my shoes as they are.  Because they were making these improvements, the pair of shoes I had ordered would not be shipped until January 5, 2015.

I was okay with that.  It was the beginning of December and I had only been wearing my current shoes since the middle of October.  I thought all was well.

I was wrong.

By the beginning of January, my knees and shins were grumbling at me during my runs.  I knew I was running out of time for a new pair.  If I didn’t do something soon, I was risking injury.

I talked to MFH and told him I didn’t know if I would be able to hold out until January 5th for the shipping.  Because they were being shipped on the 5th, that still meant that I had to wait pretty close to a week afterwards for them to arrive.  That was a long time to wait.

He grumbled a little bit and asked me to wait a bit longer, if I could.

January 4th arrived and I received an email.  “We’re sorry, your shipping date has been moved to the 12th, blah, blah, blah.”

Nope.  That was NOT going to work!  I talked to MFH and we decided that I needed to drive to someplace and buy one pair to tide me over.

I got on the phone and called up to Tupelo.  That is where I usually go to buy a “Hail Mary” pair of shoes.  They carried the shoes, yes, but not in my size.”  They had a pair a half size smaller and a half size larger.  “Would that work?”

Um, no.

I called Starkville.

No, they didn’t carry the shoes at all…but Flowood did.

I called Flowood.

YES!  Flowood had my shoes, in my size!  I asked them to put my name on a pair and I would be there in three hours.

MFH, #1 Son and I ate some lunch and then #1 Son and I hopped in the car for the 2.5 hour drive (one way) to Flowood, Mississippi.

The store (Stinky Feet) had my shoes all ready for me.  $130.00 later, and we were heading north towards home.

I was peeved because the pair I was waiting on, I had bought on sale for $97.00.  Paying $130.00 made me do a slow burn.  Then again, $130.00 beats paying for a Dr. visit and all if I got injured!  I was just happy to have the shoes.

I have been running in this pair for a couple of weeks now and my knees and shins are happy again.   YAY!!!

So, two days ago, I received another email.  “We’re very sorry, your shipping date has been changed to January 19th.  Blah, blah, blah.”

This time, I was angry.  I fired back a reply email.  They actually replied!  I was surprised.  They apologized and said that they would send my pair of shoes overnight express at no extra expense to me once they were able to ship.

Goodie.

Yesterday, on one of my online running groups, someone had found a deal on my running shoes!  They posted the sale price.  $69.00 a pair!  Plus they had a 15% off discount code!

I hopped onto the site.  They had 3 pairs of the shoes, in my size left.  I immediately bought all three pair.  I bought all three pair for $178.00.

THAT, my friends, is a deal!

They will be here tomorrow.  Three days before the current shipping date for the pair I purchased at the beginning of December 2014.
