Funny that my blog post from last week would be running in the Popular Blog Posts right now. It was, “Will I Make It? 2014 Goals.”
In that blog, I was super scared that I was not going to be able to reach my goal of 1600 miles before the end of 2014. Everybody knows of the roadblocks that have come my way this year. It’s been a frustrating year for training to be sure, but to be this close to a goal…you just never know what’s going to happen.
So, apart from checking the weather forecast every time my long run of the weeks rolls around, I’ve taking to adding and re-adding my mileage to see just how close I am to 1600.
Today was the day. I HAD to reach 19 mile this morning. Well, I had to reach 19 miles regardless of my mileage goal or not. My training plan called for 19 miles, so 19 it would be.
The weather was pretty nice for a long run. It was 46F but the humidity was pretty high~93%. It was also breezy, too.
Off I went.
It was my intention to run Schaeffer’s Chapel twice and then do Limerock Road to wrap it up. I got to where I would have to cross Highway 45 South and the traffic was insane. Everybody, but everybody was on their way to Grandma’s house for Christmas. Nope. That wasn’t going to work. There was no way I was going to try to cross that highway four times with that traffic.
Time to improvise.
I ended up doing 13 very boring miles going from my house, to Robinson Road. Back and forth on Robinson Rd three times and then back to the house. The first time, it was 6 miles, the second time I added an extra pass on Robinson Rd to bring it to 7 miles. Then I headed past my street all the way to Limerock. I ran Limerock all the way to where it dead ends and turned around and came home. 19 miles.
BOOM!
As I came down my street, my Garmin beeped 19.00 miles and I stopped that thing. 3 hrs 49 minutes. Almost a perfect 12 minute mile pace. Exactly what I wanted! #HappyCamper
As I turned onto my street, I also clicked my mileage for the year to 1600 miles! My mileage for the year now stands at 1600.38 miles.
I DID IT!!!
*Don’t I look thrilled!?! HA! One tired gal, there. 🙂
