I have mentioned before a little bit about our nighttime routine.
Things at our house are usually pretty ritualistic. You know, put the dog out for the last time. Make sure the cats are out for the night. Brush teeth. Fluff pillows (I must have my pillows fluffed just right). That sort of stuff.
But, the weather is changing. The nights are getting pretty chilly and that means there are going to be some inevitable changed in our evening routine.
I believe I have told you before about how the cats, if they are still in the house during the night…well, in the middle of the night, they will wake up MFH (My Favorite Husband) to be let out. They hardly ever wake me up. They prefer to disturb his slumber to be let outdoors.
They usually just want to be let out to do their business. They have a litter box in the laundry area but would rather *Pop* than use a littler box. I mean, that is what the great outdoors is for, right!?!
Castro (the white kitty) likes to be outdoors all night. He eats a whole bunch about 8:30 pm and then goes to the door. He is ready for his nighttime frivolities.
Kali (the black and caramel colored calico kitty~and Catstro’s mama) enjoys outdoors only during the summer months. She is not a fan of cold weather and prefers to sleep indoors when it is cold.
Kali, is fussy about where she sleeps at night during the cold winter months. She wants to sleep on our bed, between my legs. Thank you very much.
She will not sleep on the sofa in the living room. She will not sleep on a fuzzy blanket in another part of our bedroom. She will not sleep on a kitty bed. She will only sleep on our bed between my legs.
End. Of. Discussion.
She is getting pretty sly, that cat. See, if MFH catches her curled up between my legs, all ready to sleep, before he has hopped into bed, he will unceremoniously grab her and toss her outdoors.
Again…End. Of. Discussion.
So, last night, both of us thought that both of the cats were out for the night. We went through our nighttime routines and hopped into bed. My pillows were fluffed to perfection. MFH had grabbed his tablet (we listen to a program before we fall asleep) and all was well.
All of a sudden, we heard a faint, “jingle, jingle, jingle…” Then plop! Up on the bed hopped Kali.
That sneaky kitty had been hiding under the bed until we were all snuggled under the covers. She then proceeded to walk across the bed and curled up between my legs. “Prrrr! Prrr!! Prrrr!!!” She was a content kitty.
MFH, was NOT as content as Kali, however. He was sputtering.
“I’m not going to get a good solid night sleep, now!” He stated. “That cat is going to wake me up at 2:30 in the morning and demand to be let out!” He continued.
It was just too funny! That cat had outwitted us both. His indignation made it all the more funny.
I just lay on my side of the bed and laughed and laughed and laughed!!! I realize that it probably was not the appropriate response to the situation, but it really was too funny!
This morning, I did not ask MFH what time Kali demanded to be put out. I think, in this case, ignorance is bliss.
LOL!!!
