“Haters Gonna Hate”

*Um…this is a rant.

I experienced this first hand yesterday and again this morning.  I was stunned! I’m still shocked a little bit to be honest with you.  From where does all of this Pious hatred originate?

Yesterday, I participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge.  That is what started all of this nonsense.

For those of you who may not be familiar with this challenge, you are challenged on social media, to dump a bucket of ice water on top of yourself and/or donate to ALSA.ORG towards research for ALS disease.  This is a worthy cause.

As I said, I participated.  I dumped ice water over myself while MFH (My Favorite Husband) took video on my phone.  I then posted the video to FB and challenged a few of my Mississippi running buddies to do the challenge also.

I thought all was well.

I was wrong.

That is when my breath was knocked out of me.

See, I have a few “Friends” on my FB friends list who are “Religious.”  When I say this, I don’t mean the people who love the Lord and go to church every Sunday, I mean the people who are Uber Religious and who think they are better than God Himself and that they will be the only people in Heaven because they, obviously, are superior.  Those guys.

I received private messages on FB about how terrible it was that I would participate in this ice bucket challenge!  Didn’t I know that there are some “parts” of ALS research that have been know to use *gasp!* stem cell research!?!

They do stem cell research for EVERYTHING any more.  They probably did it for the blood pressure or arthritis medication or anything else that they themselves take on a regular basis.

How dare they judge!!!

I am willing to bet that if they came down with cancer (heaven forbid) or ALS itself (heaven forbid, again) that if there were anyway at all that they could survive and the knowledge the Doctors had came from stem cell research~research that somebody dumping a bucket of ice water on themselves help fund, they would jump all over it as a ways of staying alive.

Haters gonna hate…I don’t have time for people like that.
